Brentwood, TN Real Estate and Community Information

Brentwood History

Solders of the Revolutionary War first settled Brentwood, TN with grants they received for the land from the State of North Carolina.  The original community only consisted of a general store which contained a grist mill and the local post office.  When the railroad came through Brentwood, the center of business changed and the town began to grow and prosper.

The soils was rich and many successful plantations and resulting mansions were built in Brentwood.  Brentwood was known as one of the wealthiest areas in the stte by the Civil War era.  Many of these elegant mansions were used during the war to car of sick and hungry Union and Confederate soldiers.  The war took a harsh toll on the area.  By the end of the Civil War many of the plantations were left in ruins and few farm animals and crops were to be found.

Thankfully, Brentwood was rediscovered in the 1920´s and many of the grant mansions were purchased and restored to their original grandeur.  By the 1960´s the construction of the interstate system again caused Brentwood to experience phenominal growth.  Soon, the area was once again known as one of the wealthiest areas in the State.  The Brentwood of today, remains one of the wealthiest areas in the state and offers an excellent quality of life for its residents.
